Spending Easter in your caravan this year? Personally I love doing Easter Craft with my family - everyone usually gets involved and it's a great way to decorate your caravan with a bit of Easter cheer!
Here are four (4) Easter craft ideas that can be enjoyed by all ages using simple items that you can take with you. We recommend taking a craft box containing the following items:
Craft glue
Twine or string
Scissors
Plastic animal eyes
Pipe cleaners
Craft pom poms in Easter colours
Textas, crayons, and/or coloured pencils
Coloured paper and/or thin cardboard
Small white paper plates
Craft paint brush
NOTE: We deliberately haven't included pictures in this Blog post because we don't want to stifle creativity by making you think they need to look a certain way.
Toilet roll easter bunnies
Save those toilet rolls for this one!
Select 1 toilet roll. Write your name on the inside of the toilet roll. You can either leave your toilet roll "as is" for a brown bunny, or cover in coloured paper, or even paint it (if you don't mind the mess).
Make bunny ears:
Draw a long oval shape on a piece of paper (white or coloured). Your oval shouldn't be longer than half the length of the toilet roll.
Fold paper double.
Cut out your drawing.
This should give you 2 ears exactly the same!
Glue ears inside the top rim of your toilet roll.
Eyes: Glue 2 plastic animal eyes next to each other about 2/3 of the way up your toilet roll. If you don't have plastic animal eyes, you can draw your eyes.
Whiskers & Nose:
You can either dra a circle (under your eyes) for a nose with 2 whiskers coming from each side, or
Get 2 pipe cleaners the same colour and length, twist together in the middle, then spread at the ends to make whiskers. Glue under eyes using craft glue with a craft pom pom glued on top for the nose.
Mouth: Draw a little bunny mouth under your whiskers & nose.
Paper plate easter bunnies
Select 1 white paper plate. Put on a table correct way up and write your name in the middle.
Make bunny ears:
Draw a long oval shape on a piece of paper (white or coloured).
Fold paper double.
Cut out your drawing.
This should give you 2 ears exactly the same!
Glue ears to the top of your paper plate (still facing the correct way up).
Eyes:
Carefully turn your paper plate upside down with the ears at the top.
Glue 2 plastic animal eyes next to each other near the top of the plate. If you don't have plastic animal eyes, you can draw your eyes.
Whiskers & Nose:
You can either draw a circle (under your eyes) for a nose with 3 whiskers coming from each side, or
Get 3 pipe cleaners the same colour and length, twist together in the middle, then spread at the ends to make whiskers. Glue under eyes using craft glue with a craft pom pom glued on top for the nose.
Mouth: Draw a little bunny mouth under your whiskers & nose.
Easter chicken card
Make your card:
Fold a piece of yellow paper in half.
Place your hand on the yellow paper so that your little finger is along the fold.
Trace your hand with a pencil.
Remove your hand and cut out the handprint, being careful to NOT cut along the fold - this will allow you to open your card.
Turn your card into a chicken:
Eyes: On the front of your card, glue 2 plastic animal eyes next to each other about 1cm below the bottom of your fingers. If you don't have plastic animal eyes, you can draw your eyes.
Beak: Fold a piece of orange paper in half. Cut a small triangle on the fold to make an opening triangle. Glue the orange triangle under the eyes with the fold at the top.
Write inside your Easter chicken card and give to a loved one!
Easter ornaments
This one requires a bit more effort and some additional items/ingredients!
Ingredients
4 cups plain flour
1 cup salt
1 and 1/2 cups warm water
large bowl
large wooden spoon
rolling pin
oval cookie cutter (to make egg shapes, or you could use a different shape)
non-stick baking sheet or flat surface lined with baking paper
1 straw
paints & brushes
Make dough
Combine plain flour, salt, and warm water in bowl and mix well with spoon until it starts to form a dough by sticking together.
Knead dough for at least 10 minutes. If the dough is too dry, add a little more warm water and continue to knead. The dough should be smooth with no lumps.
Roll & Cut
Roll out the dough to about 1/2cm thick. Any thicker and it will take too long to dry.
Use cookie cutter to cut out ornaments and place them on a baking sheet/paper.
Use a straw to add a hole to the top of each egg.
If you have time and the weather is warm and dry, let the ornaments air dry for a day. Alternatively set your oven to the lowest possible setting, bake for 1-2 hours (until top of ornaments look dry and solid), then flip ornaments and bake for another hour.
Decorate Once your ornaments are completely dry you can get creative and decorate. Here are some ideas:
Paint each ornaments with multiple colours in either a straight or wavy pattern
Paint with craft glue and sprinkle with glitter
Glue on gold or silver stars
Glue on dots in easter colours
Hang them
Thread some twine or string through the hole, tie in a knot, and hang ornaments around your caravan or under your awning.
